The 18-turn, 5.891-kilometer course hosted the first ever Formula 1 World Championship round back in 1950 and remains one of the fastest tracks on the F1 schedule. Sunday’s British Grand Prix is scheduled for 52 laps and a total distance of 306.198 kilometers. This will be the 70th British Grand Prix, making it the race with the most appearances in F1 history over the Italian Grand Prix (69)

The British Grand Prix is the oldest on the F1 calendar, and Lewis Hamilton will be looking to become the most successful driver as he targets a sixth win in Northamptonshire.

Pierre Gasly claimed a morale-boosting fastest time in opening practice as Red Bull challenged Mercedes at the start of F1’s big British GP weekend.
Although on faster tyres compared to second-fastest Valtteri Bottas, Gasly’s late-session flyer of 1:27.173 was 0.456s ahead of the the lead Mercedes and could serve as a timely early confidence-booster for the Frenchman after a difficult start to his Red Bull career.
